Drilling Fluid Operator

Work under the direction of the Driller as necessary to support on-going rig operations. Implement and uphold safety and environmental compliance requirements. Operate/Monitor derrick equipment and mud systems under the direction of the Driller. Perform general derrick, shaker area and pump room house-keeping duties and material preservation activities under the supervision of the Driller. Assist other personnel as directed.<br><br><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>High School Diploma or equivalent.</li><li>6+ months of experience as Derrickman, or completion of Derrickman core competency instruction.</li><li>Completion of all training requirements for the position within designated time period.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Essential Functions<br><br></strong><strong> OPERATIONS<br><br></strong><ul><li>Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Driller during drilling, work over and completion operations.</li><li>Handle drill pipe or tubing when it is being hoisted out or lowered into the hole.</li><li>Apprise the Driller of mud condition and pumping equipment conditions.</li><li>Relieve drilling crew members as necessary during special operations.</li><li>Know the location of all the well control equipment, blowout preventer (BOP), accumulator, and firefighting equipment, and understand completely their operation and maintenance.</li><li>Maintain periodic check on mud weight, viscosity and add mud or chemicals as directed by the mud engineer.</li><li>Assign the drilling crew to various work details as needed.</li><li>Assist the Driller in handling day-to-day rig activities, maintenance problems and mud problems.</li><li>Relieve the Assistant Driller or Driller as required, supervise and assist in mud room activities.</li><li>Complete all paperwork as directed by the Driller.</li><li>Encourage appropriate professional development and training opportunities for employees.<br><br></li></ul><strong> MAINTENANCE & REPAIR<br><br></strong><ul><li>Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned during maintenance operations.</li><li>Maintain a clean and orderly pump room and pit room.</li><li>Apply Preventative Maintenance Program for crown block, traveling block and all other derrick equipment.</li><li>Perform housekeeping duties as required, such as keeping the pit and pump rooms clean and clear of all tools and unnecessary equipment.</li><li>Keep BOPs washed down.</li><li>Keep shale shaker and de-sander clean when in use.</li><li>Perform necessary maintenance on the shale shaker and mud pumps.</li><li>Become familiar with blowout and shut-in procedures.</li><li>May be required to do rig and equipment maintenance such as chipping, scraping, painting, scrubbing, and cleaning.</li><li>Assist in keeping the deck of the rig free of all unnecessary tools and equipment.</li><li>Relieve the Assistant Driller as assigned in order to gain experience for promotion.</li><li>Assist in maintaining the general appearance of the drilling rig.<br><br></li></ul><strong>HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL<br><br></strong><ul><li>Implement and uphold Noble's safety policies and procedures.</li><li>Ensure that all operations proceed in a safe manner. Correct and notify responsible parties of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.</li><li>Encourage and motivate personnel to observe safety and environmental policies and all intended and implied requirements of Noble's Management System.</li><li>Responsible for familiarizing and adhering to Noble's Live Safe Code for the purpose of promoting a zero-incident and no-harm workplace.</li><li>Responsible for familiarizing and utilizing Noble's Hazard Identification Tool to manage risk created by various energy sources found in the workplace.</li><li>Attend and actively participate in daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings.</li><li>Ensure compliance with the requirements established in Noble's Management System.</li><li>Initiate a safety stand down whenever an unplanned hazard or change in the expected results is observed.</li><li>Perform all Safety Critical Tasks as detailed in the HSE Case.</li><li>Incorporate the STOP the job planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team.</li><li>Take the initiative to perform emergency duties without specific orders or instruction.</li><li>Develop and implement Job Safety Analysis and prepare hazard assessments as required.</li><li>Responsible for compliance with all government regulations.<br><br></li></ul><strong>SUPERVISORY<br><br></strong>Direct: Drill crew as assigned by Driller
